How to tell if your website has had a successful year
As 2018 draws to a close (it’s hard to believe!) it’s the perfect time to stop and reflect. While some personal reflection is great, take some time and think about how the year has been for your business too. As far as your website goes, here are some ways to gauge if 2018 was as successful as you’d hoped it would be:
You boosted your email subscriber numbers
You don’t need to have doubled or tripled your subscriber count to see a difference. Small growth is still growth! Check in on these stats weekly so you can keep track of how your database is progressing.
Your bounce rate decreased
Bounce rate directly correlates to visitor engagement on your site. If you’ve lowered your bounce rate, it means you’re giving people a reason to stick around and check out your content. Awesome! Remember though, that most bounce rates are between 26 and 70 percent, so manage your expectations accordingly!
Your branding is consistent across all platforms
The logo visitors see when they check out your website should be the same one they see on Facebook, on Twitter, and on your business cards. If your branding is consistent, you’re in good shape.
You’re regularly adding fresh content
If you’ve got weekly or monthly blog posts coming in, you’re regularly switching out the photos on your site, and you talk to your audience on social media every day, your business is having a successful year as far as your online presence goes.
You’ve cleaned out any broken links from your website
Dead links deter visitors, so make sure you identify and remove any as quickly as possible.
You make it easy to understand exactly who you are and what you do
When a new visitor comes to your site, they should quickly know what services you offer, where you’re located, and how to get in touch with you. No need to turn everyone who visits your site into a detective in order to make a purchase.
You clearly state your business’s address and hours
It’s one of the most common pieces of information someone is looking for when they visit your site, and yet you’d be surprised how many business owners forget to add these details or update them. Don’t be one of them!
