Your web design New Year's Resolutions for 2019

sparklers

While most New Year’s resolutions focus on going to the gym, eating healthier, or reading more, you should also take some time and think about your business as you head into 2019. Your website is a crucial tool when it comes to boosting your brand, so you’ll want to make sure you’re devoting the proper amount of time and attention to it as we kick off a new year. Here are some website-focused resolutions that can help ensure that your site serves as a lead generating machine for you in 2019. Wow, that rhymed!

I’ll update my content regularly

As a business owner, updating your website can quickly fall to the bottom of your “to do” list. However, adding fresh content to your site is crucial, both for search engines and for your clients. Whether you need to set yourself a reminder on your calendar, assign a team member the task, or tape a Post-It to your desk, make sure content is a priority in 2019.

I’ll promote my site on every platform in which I talk to customers

Your website serves as your storefront 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even if your physical store isn’t open, potential customers can check you out online. For this reason, you’ll want to make sure you’re promoting your online presence whenever you get the chance. On business cards, on social media, and during conversations at networking events, your website should always get mentioned.

I’ll make it a point to show some personality on my site

You can be professional, but also have some fun on your site. Remember, clients want to do business with those who seem approachable and enjoyable to work with. They don’t expect (nor want!) you to be some all-business robot. If you love dogs, your headshot can feature you and Fido together in the park.

I’ll give customers a reason to return to my site

Visiting your website shouldn’t be a “one and done” experience. You should give would-be customers a reason to keep checking back. Maybe that’s a new blog post delivered every Monday, or maybe it’s a Deal of the Day Thursday. Build in some regularly scheduled features so clients know what to expect and have a reason to return to your site. This increases the likelihood that they’ll make a purchase.

I’ll make sure to collect their information and reach out regularly with valuable material for them to read

If you’ve got visitors regularly checking out your site, you’re developing a loyal client base. Awesome! But if you’re not collecting email addresses from these people, you’ve got a serious missed opportunity on your hands. When you’ve got data from your customers, you can build an informative email newsletter that they’ll love to read, as you continue to stay in touch with them and enjoy the top of mind awareness necessary to encourage them to make a purchase.

I’ll stop using stock photos and will instead invest in photography for my business

This should be a major resolution in 2019. No one wants to see an awkwardly posed picture of a model pretending to work in an office that you’re pretending is yours. High-quality photos of your office space and your staff members are worth every penny!
